Depending on who you ask, the US education system is either a failure or the best. The truth is that academic skills of American students and achievement still lags that of their students in many other countries. Among the 35 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which sponsors the PISA initiative, the U.S. ranked 30th in math and 19th in science.
