Product Description

U-profile glass is a specialized casting glass. Produced in computer-controlled smelting furnaces, it maintains excellent quality and precision. Its high mechanical strength makes it suitable for high-rise buildings and structures requiring superior lighting. This material effectively eliminates the need for extra vertical and horizontal underpinning. Known for its exceptional lighting, heat insulation, preservation, and soundproofing, it is a leading environment-friendly and economical glass solution.

Glass Surface Treatment

Pear-grain: Hammered pearl or orange peel texture providing moderate translucency and excellent light scattering.
Ice: An organic, heavily obscuring texture ideal for privacy in single glazed applications.
Piccolo: Available in thin or thick lines.
Ultra Clear (Low Iron): Special production using raw materials with low iron composition, resulting in a nearly colorless finish favored by architects.
Tinted Blue & Enameled: Ceramic fritted or color-coated options available based on RAL or Pantone numbers.
Sandblast: Light diffusing, frosted aesthetic with protective coating to reduce fingerprinting.

Customized sizes and patterns are available to meet specific project needs.

Tempering Process

The tempering process for channel glass utilizes custom-constructed ovens designed for three-dimensional glass profiles up to 20' long. This ensures dimensionally consistent glass with high compression levels.
Tempered channel glass is 3 to 4 times stronger than annealed glass.
Compression strength reaches 10,000 psi or greater.
Safety "Dicing" pattern: Breaks into small, harmless fragments rather than sharp shards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the primary advantages of U-profile glass?
It offers high mechanical strength, excellent natural light diffusion, superior thermal insulation, and sound reduction, making it both environment-friendly and economical.
Is U-profile glass safe for high-rise buildings?
Yes, especially when tempered. Tempered U-profile glass is significantly stronger than standard glass and breaks into small, dull pieces to minimize injury risk.
Can I request a custom color or pattern?
Absolutely. We offer various surface treatments like Pear-grain, Ice, and Sandblast, as well as color coating according to RAL or Pantone specifications.
What is "Low Iron" U-profile glass?
Low iron glass is made with raw materials that reduce iron content, resulting in an ultra-clear, nearly colorless appearance without the typical greenish tint of standard glass.
Does U-profile glass require extra support?
Due to its unique U-shape design and high mechanical strength, it can often save buildings from requiring extra vertical and horizontal underpinning.
What are the available sizes?
While our minimum specification starts at 100x100mm, we specialize in providing customized sizes and lengths up to 20 feet for various architectural needs.
