What is U glass?
U glass is produced by calendaring and forming, named for its "U" shape in cross-section. It features excellent light transmittance, heat insulation, energy-saving properties, and high mechanical strength. It is widely used for unique architectural effects and saves on light metal profiles compared to normal glass.
Normal clear, tinted blue, tinted green, low iron, or Ultra Clear options are available. Customized sizes and patterns can be produced to meet specific project requirements.
The tempering process for channel glass can accommodate lengths up to 20 feet using custom tempering ovens designed exclusively for three-dimensional channel glass. This ensures dimensionally consistent glass.
Tempered U channel glass is three to four times stronger than annealed glass. It is recognized by its safety break pattern—relatively small, harmless fragments (dicing)—which markedly reduces the likelihood of injury.
