What is U glass?

U glass is produced by calendaring and forming, named for its "U" shape in cross-section. It features excellent light transmittance, heat insulation, and high mechanical strength. This versatile material provides unique architectural and decorative effects while saving on metal profiles compared to standard glass systems.

Available Surface Treatments:

• Pear-grain: Hammered pearl texture for moderate translucency and light scattering.
• Ice: Organic texture for privacy and obscuring views.
• Piccolo: Styled with thin or thick lines.
• Ultra Clear (Low Iron): Almost colorless with a slight greenish cast, preferred by architects.
• Tinted & Enameled: Available in Blue or customized RAL/Paton colors.
• Sandblasted: Light diffusing for a frosted aesthetic with protective coatings.

The tempering process for channel glass (up to 20' long) uses custom ovens designed for three-dimensional profiles. Tempered U channel glass is three to four times stronger than annealed glass, reaching compression levels of 10,000 psi or greater.

Safety Feature: In the event of breakage, it "dices" into small, harmless fragments, significantly reducing the risk of injury compared to sharp shards.
