Product Overview

U-profile glass is a specialized casting glass produced through a computer-controlled smelting furnace, ensuring exceptional quality and dimensional precision. Its superior mechanical strength makes it an ideal solution for high-rise buildings and architectural structures requiring optimal natural lighting without the need for additional vertical or horizontal underpinning.

Characterized by its excellent light diffusion, thermal insulation, and sound protection properties, U-profile glass stands as a modern, environment-friendly, and economical glazing alternative.

Technical Specifications
Surface Treatments & Patterns
  • Pear-grain: Hammered pearl or orange peel texture providing moderate translucency and excellent light scattering.
  • Ice: An organic, heavily obscuring texture perfect for privacy in single-glazed applications.
  • Piccolo: Available in both thin and thick line patterns.
  • Ultra Clear (Low Iron): Special production using low-iron raw materials for a nearly colorless finish with a slight greenish cast.
  • Tinted & Enameled: Available in Blue tint or Ceramic fritted color coating (RAL/Pantone options).
  • Sandblast: Light diffusing frosted aesthetic with a protective coating to reduce fingerprints.
Tempering Process

Our tempering process accommodates channel glass up to 20' long using custom-built three-dimensional tempering ovens. This secondary heat treatment raises glass compression to 10,000 psi or greater, making it three to four times stronger than annealed glass.

In the event of breakage, tempered channel glass exhibits a "dicing" pattern—breaking into small, harmless fragments without sharp edges, significantly reducing the risk of injury.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is U-profile glass?
U-profile glass (or U-channel glass) is a translucent U-shaped cast glass produced in various widths and lengths, designed to provide high mechanical strength for building facades and interiors.
2. Is U-profile glass suitable for high-rise buildings?
Yes. Due to its unique U-shape design and high mechanical strength, it can be installed in high-rise structures while providing excellent stability and wind resistance.
3. Can the glass be customized in terms of color and texture?
Absolutely. We offer various surface treatments including Pear-grain, Ice, Piccolo, Sandblasted, and Ceramic fritted colors based on RAL or Pantone codes.
4. What are the safety benefits of tempered U-channel glass?
Tempered U-channel glass is 3-4 times stronger than standard annealed glass. When it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces (dicing), which minimizes the risk of injury.
5. Does U-profile glass help with energy efficiency?
Yes, it features excellent thermal insulation and heat preservation properties, making it an environment-friendly choice for reducing building energy consumption.
6. What is the maximum length available?
Our tempering process can handle channel glass sections up to 20 feet long, allowing for seamless vertical installations in large-scale projects.
