What is Tempered Glass?
Tempered glass is a type of strengthened glass that is ideal for applications where standard annealed glass isn't strong enough. Also known as safety glass or reinforced glass, this product is created by heat-treating the glass, producing a material that is four times stronger than traditional glass.
Tempered glass is designed to be more resistant to impacts and thermal stress compared to regular glass. When broken, it shatters into small, rounded pieces rather than sharp shards, reducing the risk of injury. This makes it a preferred choice for various applications where safety is a priority.
The unique properties make it suitable for a wide range of uses, including windows, doors, shower enclosures, partitions, tabletops, and automotive applications. It provides enhanced resistance to mechanical stress, thermal shock, and wind pressure.
In addition to safety, it offers excellent optical clarity, allowing maximum visibility and light transmission. It can be further enhanced with low emissivity (Low-E) coatings or laminations to improve energy efficiency and sound insulation.
