Product Description

U-profile glass is a specialized type of casting glass. Its formation process in computer-controlled smelting furnaces ensures exceptional quality and dimensional precision. Due to its high mechanical strength, it is ideally suited for high-rise buildings and structures requiring superior natural lighting.
Key Features: Good lighting, heat insulation, sound insulation, noise protection, and environment-friendly properties. It eliminates the need for extra vertical and horizontal underpinning in many architectural applications.

Surface Treatment & Options

💠
Pear-grain: A hammered pearl or orange peel texture providing moderate translucency and excellent light scattering.
💠
Ice: An organic, heavily obscuring texture. Perfect for privacy or obscuring views in single-glazed applications.
💠
Piccolo: Available in thin or thick line patterns for a modern aesthetic.
💠
Ultra Clear (Low Iron): Produced with raw materials containing low iron, resulting in an almost colorless glass with a slight greenish cast.
💠
Tinted & Enameled: Available in Blue tints or custom enameled colors (Ceramic fritted) based on RAL or Pantone numbers.
💠
Sandblast: Provides a light-diffusing, frosted aesthetic with a protective coating to reduce fingerprinting.
Note: Customized sizes and patterns are available to meet specific project requirements.

Tempering & Safety

The tempering process involves heat-treating the channel glass to raise compression to 10,000 psi or greater. Tempered channel glass is three to four times stronger than annealed glass. It is characterized by its safety "dicing" break pattern—small, harmless fragments that reduce the risk of injury.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the primary advantage of U-profile glass over flat glass?
A: U-profile glass provides superior structural strength due to its U-shape, allowing for longer spans and taller installations without the need for additional vertical supports. It also offers unique light diffusion and thermal insulation properties.
Q2: Can U-channel glass be used for curved walls?
A: Yes, because of the modular nature of the channels, U-profile glass can be installed in a segmented curve to create radius walls for both interior and exterior applications.
Q3: Is the glass safe for use in public areas?
A: Absolutely. When tempered, the glass meets safety standards. If it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces (dicing pattern), which significantly reduces the risk of injury compared to large shards.
Q4: How does Low Iron glass differ from standard glass?
A: Low Iron (Ultra Clear) glass has a reduced iron content, which removes the typical green tint found in standard glass. This results in higher light transmission and a much clearer, more neutral appearance.
Q5: What are the maintenance requirements for sandblasted glass?
A: Our sandblasted glass comes with a protective coating that resists fingerprints and stains, making it much easier to clean and maintain than traditional frosted glass.
Q6: What colors are available for enameled U-glass?
A: Enameled glass can be customized to any color according to RAL or Pantone systems, allowing architects to match the glass perfectly with other building elements.
