Tempered U Profile Glass Overview
The tempering process for channel glass up to 20' long is conducted in custom-designed ovens exclusively for three-dimensional channel glass. This precision machinery ensures dimensionally consistent glass production. Tempered U channel glass is annealed glass that undergoes a second heat treatment to raise compression to 10,000 psi or greater. This makes it three to five times stronger than standard channel glass.
Safety Performance: Recognized by its break pattern—relatively small, harmless fragments (dicing). This markedly reduces the likelihood of injury as there are no jagged edges or large, sharp shards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the maximum length of U Profile Glass?
A: We can manufacture U profile glass in lengths up to 12 meters, allowing for expansive vertical installations without horizontal joints.
Q: How much stronger is tempered U glass compared to standard glass?
A: Tempered U glass is approximately 3 to 5 times stronger than standard annealed glass of the same thickness due to the secondary heat treatment process.
Q: What happens if tempered U profile glass breaks?
A: In the event of breakage, the glass shatters into hundreds of small, relatively blunt pellets. This dicing effect significantly minimizes the risk of serious injury.
Q: Can U profile glass be used for sound insulation?
A: Yes, its unique structural shape and the density of tempered glass provide excellent soundproofing properties, making it ideal for building envelopes and partitions.
Q: Are there different color or pattern options available?
A: We offer a variety of options including normal clear, ultra-clear (low iron), tinted blue, tinted green, and various customized patterns to suit architectural designs.
Q: Is the U profile glass suitable for extreme temperatures?
A: Yes, the tempered process makes the glass much more resistant to thermal stress and sudden changes in temperature compared to ordinary glass.
