Product Description

Laminated Glass Construction

Laminated Glass is the construction of two lites of glass bonded together by an adhesive material—typically Polyvinyl Butyrol (PVB). This invisible PVB layer is designed to keep the glass integral to the structure upon breakage, rather than allowing the glass to shatter into otherwise large, sharp, and dangerous pieces.

PVB also dulls the edges of broken shards of glass, significantly lowering the risk of injury. After undergoing a series of heating and pressing, the two lites of glass and PVB interlayer become one solid, durable glass construction.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: How to judge the quality of float glass? A: Quality is judged by flatness, transparency, absence of color tint, and lack of impurities or bubbles.
Q2: How to reduce glass self-implosion? A: Use high-quality float methods for hot dip treatment, edge treatment, and proper stress intensity. Avoid side collisions during installation.
Q3: What is the scope of use for toughened glass? A: It is used where safety and improved compressive strength/explosion-proof capacity are needed to protect person safety in building structures.
Q4: Can toughened glass and semi-toughened glass be combined into laminated glass? A: No. National standards dictate that glass with different stress levels cannot be used together in laminated glass as they bear pressure differently during use.
Q5: Is laminated glass fireproof or soundproof? A: While not specifically "fireproof glass," it has certain fire-resistant abilities. It is excellent for soundproofing across the entire sound wave frequency range for noise control.
Q6: How much ultraviolet radiation can low-e glass reduce? A: It can reduce UV by 14% compared to heat-reflecting glass, and represents a 25% reduction in UV radiation compared to standard white glass.
