Product Description

Clear Sound Proof Laminated Glass

Laminated glass consists of a tough protective interlayer made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) bonded between two panes of glass under heat and pressure. Once sealed together, the glass "sandwich" behaves as a single unit and looks like normal glass. Annealed, heat strengthened or tempered glass can be used to produce laminated glass.

Laminated glass may crack upon impact, but the glass fragments held by the protective interlayer rather than falling free and potentially causing injury. It provides durability, high-performance and multi-functional benefits while preserving aesthetic appearance.

Advantages of SGP Interlayer

  • Color: Offers clear interlayer for safety glass, with more colors available.
  • Weathering: Waterproof and edge stable, allowing for frameless exterior designs even in critical weather without delamination.
  • Yellow Index: Provides a much brighter view when combined with extra clear glass.
  • Performance: Hurricaneproof properties offer high security during disasters.
  • Strength: 100 times stiffer and 5 times stronger than PVB, allowing for thinner glass and reduced weight load.

Key Features

1. Extremely High Safety Firmly adhered layers ensure that if broken, glass fragments stick to the PVB film, preventing injury and penetration.
2. Energy Saving Reduces solar light transmittance. Darker color laminations provide superior performance in solar control.
3. Sound Insulation PVB interlayer acts as an effective sound absorber, inhibiting noise spread from traffic and surroundings.
4. UV Screening Filters out 99% of ultraviolet rays, preventing furniture and interior decor from fading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What exactly is laminated glass? A: It is a safety glass made of two or more layers of glass bonded together with a protective interlayer (usually PVB or SGP) using heat and pressure.
Q2: Why is SGP interlayer better for exterior use? A: SGP is stiffer and stronger than PVB, offering excellent waterproof performance and edge stability, which prevents delamination in frameless exterior designs.
Q3: Does laminated glass help with noise reduction? A: Yes, the PVB interlayer acts as a highly effective sound absorber that inhibits the spread of noise from airports, railways, and busy streets.
Q4: Can this glass protect furniture from fading? A: Absolutely. The interlayer filters out 99% of ultraviolet rays, significantly protecting interior furniture and curtains from fading.
Q5: What happens if the laminated glass breaks? A: If the glass breaks, the fragments remain adhered to the interlayer rather than falling, reducing the risk of injury and maintaining the barrier.
Q6: What is the maximum size available for these glass panels? A: The maximum production size for these laminated glass panels is 12000mm x 3300mm.
