Acoustic performance in glass is measured by the Sound Transmission Class (STC). Standard single-pane glass typically offers an STC rating of 26-28. However, in the demanding climate and noise environments of Slovakia, this is insufficient. MGW’s Soundproof Laminated Glass can achieve STC ratings upwards of 45-50 when integrated into Insulated Glass Units (IGU).
The secret lies in the coincidence effect. Every material has a specific frequency where it vibrates easily, allowing sound to pass through. By laminating two sheets of glass of different thicknesses (e.g., 6mm + 4mm) with an acoustic interlayer, we "break" this frequency, providing superior insulation across the entire audible spectrum. This is particularly effective against the low-frequency rumble of heavy trucks on Slovakia’s E-roads and the high-frequency noise of city traffic.
