MGW Glass
New Zealand's architectural landscape is undergoing a radical transformation. From the vertical skylines of Auckland to the organic, nature-integrated villas of Wanaka, architects are increasingly moving away from rigid, linear structures toward fluid, curved designs. As a leading Bent/Curved Tempered Glass Factory & Exporter, we have witnessed a 40% increase in demand from New Zealand builders seeking glass that doesn't just enclose a space but defines its aesthetic character.
The unique "Kiwi" lifestyle emphasizes a seamless connection between the indoors and the rugged outdoor beauty. Curved tempered glass provides the structural integrity needed to withstand New Zealand's high wind zones (NZS 3604) while offering panoramic, distortion-free views. Whether it's a coastal property in the Bay of Islands requiring salt-resistant laminated curved glass or a commercial retrofit in Wellington's CBD requiring seismic-resilient glazing, our technology meets the stringent AS/NZS 2208:1996 safety standards.
Curved facades for modern office towers in Auckland, reducing solar gain while maximizing daylighting.
Bespoke spiral staircases and curved floor-to-ceiling windows for high-end South Island retreats.
Engineered flexibility and strength to comply with NZ’s rigorous earthquake building codes.
Manufacturing bent tempered glass is a symphony of physics and precision. At Shandong MGW Glass Technology Co., Ltd., we utilize advanced CNC bending-tempering furnaces. The process involves heating the glass to approximately 700°C—the softening point—where it is then precisely molded to the required radius using computer-controlled rollers. Once the shape is achieved, the glass is rapidly quenched with cold air to create the internal tension that makes it "tempered" or "toughened."
For our New Zealand clients, we offer two primary types of curved glass:
We understand that the NZ market demands sustainability. Our Low-E Curved Glass options are specifically designed to meet the H1 Energy Efficiency requirements of the New Zealand Building Code, ensuring that even with large expanses of glass, homes remain warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

In coastal areas like Napier or the Coromandel, traditional railings can obstruct the view and succumb to corrosion. Our curved tempered glass balustrades provide a wind-resistant barrier that maintains an uninterrupted connection to the ocean. By using SGP Ionoplast interlayers, we ensure the glass remains crystal clear and structurally sound even in high-salt environments.
The hospitality sector in Queenstown and Auckland is booming. Curved glass storefronts and "bubble" elevators are becoming hallmarks of luxury retail. Our bended glass provides the "wow factor" necessary for high-end boutique hotels and flagship stores, combining security with high-transparency aesthetics.
Museums and libraries in Dunedin and Wellington often require unique geometries. Our factory can produce extra-large curved panels (up to 3300mm x 18000mm in flat, with specialized curved dimensions) that allow for grand architectural statements without compromising safety.
Founded in 1993, Shandong MGW Glass Technology Co., Ltd. has specialized in building glass for more than 32 years. Our goal is to work closely with partners to help customers achieve greater success in multiple fields.
With 32 years of development and continuous improvement, MGW Glass not only builds a strong brand but also delivers high-quality products and constant innovation. In China, MGW Glass has completed more than 200+ projects. Internationally, our glass products are exported to Europe, America, the Middle East, West Asia, Southeast Asia, and notably, the Oceania region including New Zealand and Australia.
Deep project understanding to reduce risks and ensure smooth delivery to NZ ports.
CNC cutting, double-edge grinding, and water-jet tech for accurate sizing and fast lead times.
CE, SGCC, and ISO certified products, fully compliant with international safety standards.
As New Zealand moves toward its "Net Zero 2050" goal, the role of glass is shifting from a passive element to an active energy manager. We are investing in Triple Glazed Curved Units that offer thermal insulation properties comparable to solid walls. Furthermore, the integration of "Smart Glass" (Electrochromic glass) into curved formats is on the horizon, allowing NZ homeowners to tint their windows with a smartphone app to manage solar glare.
Our commitment as a factory is to provide the New Zealand market with the latest innovations at factory-direct pricing, ensuring that high-end architectural dreams remain economically viable.
